Today we will define the difference between all these, many times people think it has an OLED panel in this due to which it creates confusion that it has SAMOLED or AMOLED then why people are saying it has OLED. So let me clarify that AMOLED is a type of OLED.

First, we are going to discuss AMOLED and its types
This question might appear in your mind that why it is called active matrix, the reason this is the display formation has several different layers; the anode layer is integrated with thin-film transistor (TFT) matrix due to which it does not depend on any external circuit to glow pixels, it can glow pixels by itself. All it needs is current to glow pixels.

On the other hand, if we talk about other OLED panels for example P-OLED panel, so for that we need to use an external circuit. Now we used to thought the AMOLED panel consumes less battery because when we the black part, it basically turns off the pixels from there due to which saves the battery. But here come apart to think that it does not take help of external part and consume less battery, so the above part gives reasons for two things.

If you think AMOLED and SAMOLED are the same panels and Samsung just uses SAMOLED as a marketing term then you are wrong because if you see VIVO, it always mentions AMOLED or SAMOLED for different mobile phones or we can say that AMOLED vs OLED.
In AMOLED to provide touchscreen, a layer used to be inserted which is called touch sensor digitization or traditional touchscreen display, now that has been integrated into SAMOLED. Now when that layer is been removed, it gave various advantages likes reduced thickness, less battery consumption. The major change due to that layer is in light reflection, it almost gave eighty percentage differences in the display between AMOLED and SAMOLED. If you are going to compare AMOLED and SAMOLED displays side by side in real life, you will observe there is less light reflection in SAMOLED as compared to AMOLED.
The company has not revealed that there is any difference between qualities. AMOLED and SAMOLED share the same pixel arrangement that is RGBG, the pixel arrangement here is pentile matrix. Here fifty percentages of pixels are green ones, green pixels are of the smallest sizes, and the reason behind this is that green pixels are the highest luminance efficiency. The green colour is very sensitive for our eyes. On the other hand, the red pixel is of medium size and the blue pixel is of the largest size. Blue pixel is of the largest size because it is lowest luminance efficient which means to glow as equal to green pixels, blue pixels require more current due to which the display’s damaging chances increases as we cannot supply different amount of current to different types of pixels
Now moving on to SAMOLED+, we have seen SAMOLED+ in Samsung A17 but it first came in Samsung s2 in 2011. But Samsung stopped using SAMOLED+ in their phones after Samsung s2 in 2011 because in SAMOLED+ the green pixels are the highest luminance efficiency, so if we keep all pixels sizes equal there will be no problem. Therefore Samsung used the real stripe method and RGBRGB pixel arrangement. Now here a problem occurred that green pixel required more current to glow equal to blue pixel as green is the lowest luminance efficient and due to which displays started damaging early. The other problem was tint started occurring in the display, so Samsung stopped using it in 2011.
Now after so many years SAMOLED+ has come back into the market, probably Samsung A71 is the first phone which has this in it. But now in Samsung A17, they have changed the pixel arrangement that is RGBG and the arrangement which is used here is diamond pixel arrangement.
SAMOLED+ has a “+” in its name because what they have done was that they had integrated proximity sensor and light sensor with the panel itself. Here its thickness is less, it is brighter and the blue light has also been decreased generation wise. So these were the differences between SAMOLED and AMOLED.
Now moving on to Dynamic AMOLED panel or fluid AMOLED panel, if you think dynamic AMOLED stands for a high refresh rate then you are wrong. Samsung S10 has a dynamic AMOLED and we all not Samsung S10 does not have any high refresh rate technology. Dynamic AMOLED has “dynamic” in its name because its display works with its processor, so when you watch any content in HDR then it manages the light according to content, for example, if shadow comes then it increases the brightness. It provides you with a dynamic effect therefore it is called a dynamic AMOLED panel.
Now in comparison to S AMOLED, it has the following features, it has 1300 nits’ peak brightness; it has an HDR 10 certification display. In-display AMOLED the blue lights are decreased by shifting the blue-light wavelength seven percentage. For human eyes the harmful blue wavelength is between 415 nanometres and 455 nanometres, so they have increased it by seen percentage by making it 450 nanometre and 465 nanometre.
Now by increasing it by seven percentages, blue light decreased fifty percentages in its display. So by this way they have decreased blue light.
The fluid AMOLED panel is not different; it is actually the same as the dynamic AMOLED panel. It is just different companies that have different names in the market. One plus calls it fluid AMOLED because Samsung display is AMOLED panel as Samsung has given it high refresh rate in Samsung 7 pro. It also relates with the name as smooth like fluid, so high refresh rate panel is called fluid AMOLED panel by One plus.
Apple calls it super retina XTR panel because in iPhone 4 apple for the first time gave 300 PPI display, so display which has less than 300 PPI, its pixels are seen by eyes some amount. Now apple first introduced a 300+ PPI display and its pixels were not seen by eyes so it is called a retina display. Apple started using the retina word as a marketing term, so therefore this is how the term “super XTR retina” came.
Either it is AMOLED panel, super AMOLED panel, dynamic panel, the difference between all these can be seen by calibration, the way company is using it so the company do the colour contrast according to it.
Generation wise the growth of AMOLED, super AMOLED, super AMOLED+, dynamic AMOLED, the difference between all these are that the work on the colour contrast is been done great, as you can observe the white part is AMOLED is highlighted more due to which it is not showing colours that clearly whereas in super AMOLED panel, super AMOLED+ panel or dynamic AMOLED panel, there is depth in colour contrast in a better way and is increased generation wise. The blue light here is decreased generation wise so that it does not affect your eyes.
You cannot call AMOLED as super AMOLED but you can call super AMOLED as AMOLED because it is its type but there is a lot of differences between them so you cannot generalise that thing.

Let’s now talk about OLED technology
The full form of OLED technology is the Organic Light-Emitting Diode. In this, behind the display, an LED is been placed and that LED is made up of organic materials. OLED technology’s every pixel emits its own light. Its display is very flexible, smaller and thinner as compared to old LED technologies.
Through this display you can see very vibrant colours, if you see OLED technology displays then you can observe various vibrant colours. OLED technology consumes very less battery while showing dark colours.
OLED technologies are useful in various places for example to make television’s displays, to make smart phone’s displays and even to make your computer monitor’s screen. OLED technology is also used to make bendable or flexible lights, transparent lighting, etc.
Now let’s talk about the OLED technology display advantages
With this technology we get a really good quality display, it is very cost-effective, etc. OLED technology displays are way brighter than LEDs. In this technology there is no need for backlighting, it gives very faster response as compared to traditional LCDs.
Now let’s talk about the OLED technology display disadvantages
The life span of OLED technology is very short as compared to LCD, LED and PDP technologies. In this display technology, you will observe various colourations. This technology does not provide any water-resistant safety, so with water, it can easily be damaged.
Let’s now compare AMOLED technology with OLED
AMOLED full form is an Active Matrix Light-Emitting Diode. This technology is basically based on an active matrix. This technology has two TFT layers, one TFT layer is a thin film transistor that is used in the storage capacitors, it is used to start and stop charging, the other TFT is used to supply the charging further in a capacitor.
Due to these TFT layers AMOLED technology controls the current flow very well in every pixel which gives a great result. This display is very thin, lightweight and flexible as compared to LCD, LED, OLED.
AMOLED technology has no size limitation from smaller to bigger it is available in every size. The AMOLED display is way better than OLED display because AMOLED display technology follows back plain technology because of the TFT layers in it, which gives a better display quality as compared to OLED.
AMOLED display technology is used in mobiles, television, laptop, tablets, smartwatches, gaming consoles, portable music players, music production hardware, and digital cameras. Therefore as compared to other technologies AMOLED technology is used way more in the market. It is heavily and widely used in every industry.
Now let’s talk about the AMOLED technology display advantages
There are many advantages of AMOLED display like AMOLED display technology has no shape or size limitations, it is used to build from smaller to bigger displays. In comparison to the P-AMOLED display, the AMOLED display provides a higher refresh rate. It gives a better viewing angle as compared to IPS LCDs.
Now let’s talk about the AMOLED technology display disadvantages
The biggest disadvantage of AMOLED technology is with time the display quality degrades a lot. There is a lot of screen burn issues observed in AMOLED technology, but in future AMOLED technology, this issue will be solved as there is work going on to solve this issue. AMOLED display technology is very expensive as compared to other display technologies.
